Types of Pain

There are many different common types of pain or medical hurt.  It is possible to categorize the common types of pain:

Chronic Muscle Pain: Improper muscle use - be it too much or too little - can cause chronic muscle pain.

Muscle Pain: Basic muscle overuse injuries -- muscle sprains, strains, and pains -- Oh my!

Chronic Knee and Joint Pain: Arthritis is a comon cause of pain and disability in knee and hip joints.

Piriformis Syndrome: occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or otherwise irritated by the piriformis muscle causing pain, tingling and numbness in the buttocks and along the path of the sciatic nerve descending down the lower thigh and into the leg. Back Pain: The causes of back pain can be complex -- accidents, muscle strains, sports injuries. Stiffness, pain, lower back pain, and pain radiating down the leg are symptoms of back pain.

Neck and Shoulder Pain: Many joint and muscle problems can cause neck and shoulder pain.

Whiplash: Whiplash is caused by any abrupt jerking motion to the head and neck.

Temporomandibular (TMD) Disorders: Facial pain in the jaw, jaw joint, and facial muscles that control chewing are signs of TMD disorders.

The above are the most common types of medical hurt or pain, but there are many many more.
